A two-day consultation on the Naga peace process ended on Friday with around 6,000 delegates from Nagaland extending support to an honourable solution to the issue through peaceful negotiation between the Centre and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah).
The delegates made a declaration and handed over a copy of it to NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chishi Swu and its general secretary Th Muivah.
The declaration asserted that unification of all Naga areas is "legitimate and therefore nonnegotiable".
The meeting, called by the NSCN (I-M), saw representation from people representing Naga villages in Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, and delegates from Naga tribal councils, civil society groups, student organisations, women's bodies and churches of different denominations
It was held at the outfit's headquarter, Camp Hebron, about 40 km off Dimapur.
Later, Swu asserted that the declaration would further strengthen the outfit stand during the course of political negotiations for which "we had already submitted a list of proposals to the Government of India".
