A Delhi Public School student was kidnapped in Patna early on Wednesday morning.

Police suspect that Kislay Kaushal, a class IX student, was kidnapped for ransom. The boy's father is a sales tax officer in the city.

Gautam was kidnapped at around 6.30 am when he was about to board his school bus from Patel Nagar, an upmarket residential area.

One of Gautam's school friends, the only witness to the abduction, claims two men got out of a white Tata Sumo car and took Gautam away.

Police sources said this was the third incident of abduction in the last two months in Patel Nagar.

Superintendent of Police Shalin said a majority of the kidnapping cases in Patna are for ransom.

Gautam's parents have not yet received any call from the kidnappers.

Meanwhile, angry residents of Patel Nagar blocked roads protesting against lack of security arrangements in the area.
