A court in Jamtara, Jharkhand, which was supposed to frame charges against Coal Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Shibu Soren on Tuesday in connection with the 1975 Chirudih massacre case, allowed him to secure a stay order from the Ranchi high court by February 11.
Additional District and Session Judge U N Mishra issued the order after Soren's counsel, Arun Kumar Bose and B N Majhi, sought time to move the HC against the lower court's order rejecting Soren's discharge petition.
Public Prosecutor Anil Kumar Mahato said the court had allowed Soren to procure the stay order by February 11 when the trial of other 27 accused would start.
Soren's counsel said he would not be able to appear before the Jamtara court on Tuesday and decided to approach the HC for a revision against the lower court's order.
