A court on Tuesday granted one day's police custody to the junior seer of the Kanchi mutt, Vijayendra Saraswati, arrested in connection with the Sankararaman murder case.
According to Judicial Magistrate-I G Uthamaraj's order, the police will have the seer's custody for 24 hours from 1700 IST, Tuesday.
The police had sought five days' custody saying there was a need to question him.
