Celebrating her 48th birthday on Tuesday, Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati charged the Bharatiya Janata Party with maligning her through 'false allegations' in the Taj corridor case and accusing her of using party money for personal use.

The BJP (during the National Democratic Alliance rule) tried to malign her image by spreading rumours that she had bought land in a Delhi's posh area in her name with money swindled in the Taj Corridor scam, she alleged after laying the foundation stone for the BSP House in New Delhi.

Her attack on the BJP comes in the wake of reports that the Central Bureau of Investigation has been advised by the Attorney General not to prosecute Mayawati in the Taj scam due to 'lack of evidence'.

Terming the allegations as a 'bunch of lies', she said the BJP had used the CBI to pressure her. She claimed documentary evidence 'were proof of her innocence'.

In a bid to steer clear of the controversy over BSP supremo Kanshiram's health and charges that she had kept him in captivity, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, "It was part of the conspiracy of the Brahminical forces against me, but I will not relent."

She said the BSP House, being built in the heart of the national capital, would showcase the history of the Dalits. "The delay in building the historic building was caused by the BJP, which created several obstacles," Mayawati alleged.

The party organised two-hour-long colourful dance programmes to mark the occasion.
