Amritsar records season's coldest night at -1° C

Amritsar recorded the season's coldest night at - 1° Celsius on Thursday.

It continued to be the coldest place in the plains and Thursday's minimum was five degrees below normal.

In Ludhiana and Patiala, the lows settled above normal at 6.9° C and 8.2° C, respectively, according to the meteorological department.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the cold wave conditions intensified due to a fresh spell of snow. Gulmarg received 20 cm of snow, Sonmarg 10 cm, while Drass sector had 3 cm.

The minimum in Srinagar was 1.7° C, while Jammu recorded a degree above normal at 7° C.

Temperatures rose at many places in Himachal Pradesh, with Shimla recording four degrees above the normal low at 6° C.
