On the second day of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2005, the most interesting, glitzy and well-attended session was the one organized by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav made sure that the session got most media coverage by inviting actor Amitabh Bachchan and wife Jaya Bachachan as chief guests.
Bachchan's daughter Shweta was also present.
The Bachchans are known to be close to Yadav.
There was virtual stampede to attend this session. Some NRI delegates protested because they were not able to gain access to the session because of the crowds.
