Day 1: The biz buzz

Some 2,000 non-resident Indians are attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2005. Many of the NRIs have come looking for investment opportunities in India.

To cater to this demand, delegations from various Indian states, led by their chief ministers, have put up stalls to showcase investment opportunities on offer.

Fourteen states have planned pavilions at the event in a bid to woo NRI investors.

Gujarat was first off the block when Chief Minister Narendra Modi threw open the state's stall to visitors on Friday.
