An earthquake of slight intensity was felt in the wee hours of Wednesday near the Uttar Pradesh-Uttaranchal border, the Indian Meteorological Department said.
The tremor, measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, occurred at 0244 IST and its epicentre lay at 29.8 degree North Latitude and 77.8 degree East Longitude.
Meanwhile, aftershocks of moderate intensity continued to rock the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, ten days after a massive earthquake off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra triggered giant tsunami waves, which killed nearly 150,000 people in South and Southeast Asia.
A tremor measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale was felt south of Great Nicobar at 2049 IST on Tuesday, IMD said adding another quake of the same magnitude hit the region at 2357 IST.
In the early hours of Wednesday (0038 IST), a tremor measuring 5.2 occurred south of Great Nicobar island.
Still another earthquake was experienced west of Little Andaman island seven minutes later. It was measured at 5.5 on the Richter scale, the department said.
