The Madras High Court on Monday granted bail to Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati in the Radhakrishnan assault case.
However, the seer will have to remain in judicial custody as he is yet to get bail in Sankararaman murder case.
Justice R Balasubramaniam directed the Seer to furnish a personal bond for Rs 25,000 with two sureties for like amount.
The judge also said further conditions of the bail would be subject to the outcome of the seer's bail plea in the Sankararaman murder case, coming up for hearing in the Supreme Court on January 6.
Justice R Balasubramaniam reserved his orders after hearing the arguments from senior Supreme Court advocate K T S Tulsi, appearing on behalf of the prosecution, and the seer's counsel M Sathyanarayanan.
The seer was formally arrested in this case on November 23 while he was in judicial custody after being arrested in the Sankararaman murder case on November 11.
