Former chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said he was planning to move a resolution seeking assurance from Governor S C Jamir to accept the decision of the 40-member house in Goa after the vote of confidence on Monday.
"Last time the governor disregarded that I won the majority of the house and dismissed my government. What is the guarantee that he will not do it again?" asked Parrikar.
"If he has no faith in the assembly he should not have asked Rane for a floor test," he added.
Pratapsinh Rane-led Congress government in Goa will face a vote of confidence on Monday.
Rane was sworn in hours after the Parrikar-led Bharatiya Janata Party government was dismissed on February 2.
The dismissal followed hours after the Parrikar government won a confidence vote amidst confusion over the disqualification of independent legislator Philip Neri Rodrigues.
When asked what the BJP strategy would be if Rane lost the vote of confidence, Parrikar said, "I will immediately stake my claim to the governor. I will insist that since he had dismissed my government last time even though I won the confidence of the House, he should call me back."
Parrikar claimed that a lot of Congress MLAs were restless and wanted to move out. He said, "The Congress will discover that they are short by a large number in the end."
The BJP also filed a disqualification petition against its MLA Digamber Kamat, who quit on Thursday, stating that he had violated Article 168. Article 168 states that a legislator is liable for disqualification if he resigns after the summons for an assembly session have been issued.
