Taking up two intervention applications against the closure of the much-publicised Anara Gupta pornographic CD case, a local court on Saturday issued notice to the Jammu and Kashmir crime branch to file its objection by March 5, the next date of hearing.

The applications were filed by Shiv Sena activist Amit Chouhan and four suspended police officers before Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjeev Gupta.

The state crime branch had closed the case and filed the case closure report in the court on February 12.

The case relates to pornographic CDs allegedly featuring former miss Jammu Anara Gupta.

Advocate Sheikh Shakeel had filed an intervention application on February 14 on behalf of Chouhan. It was followed by another application on February 18 by the suspended police officers.

The applications urged the court to direct the crime branch not to close the case and take the report of Chandigarh-based forensic science lab, which had said the woman in the CD might be Anara, into account and initiate fresh investigation into the case.

The state crime branch had on Friday registered a case against Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police Kamal Saini, city SP Prabhat Singh, Bakshi Nagar SDPO Tanveer Geelani and Canal Road SHO Kiran Bala for wrongful confinement of Anara Gupta from October 23 to November 3, 2004.
