Janata Dal (United) candidate and former Lok Sabha member Lovely Anand was arrested in Patna on Monday.

The arrest follows a non-bailable warrant against her in connection with a case lodged with Bokaro police station in Jharkhand in 1995.

Lovely, wife of former member of Parliament Anand Mohan, was arrested at Pandarak in Barh assembly constituency, Patna district, while canvassing support there, Senior Superintendent of Police N H Khan said.

Anand is the JD-U candidate in Barh.

The Anands switched over to JD-U after parting company with the Lok Janshakti Party recently.

Saharsa Police Superintendent Arvind Pande had on Sunday written to the SSP (Patna) to arrest Lovely, who was evading arrest for the past over nine years in a case charging her with acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony at Bokaro in 1995.

A Bokaro court had recently ordered attachment of her property after she failed to comply with its directive to surrender.
