A woman axed a leopard to death to save her husband in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday night.
According to sources, Adnan Hussain, a resident of Bari village in Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district, had gone to a shed near his house late in the night to bring some grass when the leopard attacked him.
Officials said the leopard had strayed from the forest and was hiding in the shed.
Hussain raised an alarm and covered the mouth of the leopard with a blanket he was carrying.
Hussain's wife Somi Begum, on hearing the commotion, rushed to the shed and axed the animal to death.
The authorities shifted the dead leopard to Rajouri, where an autopsy was conducted.
