Diffident over the praise for organising the Bharatiya Janata Party silver jubilee national convention, Pramod Mahajan Friday said its success has not affected his stature in the party.
"I don't believe the success of the party's silver jubilee national convention in Mumbai has in any way affected my stature," Mahajan told reporters.
Former prime minister A B Vajpayee while addressing a party rally in Mumbai Thursday night had dubbed Lal Kishenchand Advani and Mahajan as the pair of 'Ram-Laxman'.
Asked what he felt on being termed 'Laxman', Mahajan refrained from saying anything.
"Ask me questions only on the organisational aspect of the convention," he said.
"It was natural that the party, which held its maiden national convention in Mumbai in 1980, hold its silver jubilee convention in Mumbai. Being in charge of Maharashtra, I was entrusted the responsibility to organise the convention, which I have done to my fullest," he said.
He said there was one shortcoming in the convention -- that of Vajpayee not being able to deliver his concluding remarks.
"It would have been nice had Atalji been able to deliver the speech. The delegates present would have got a new direction in the coming years," he added.
