The Congress on Wednesday said the resignation of Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Sanjay Joshi in the wake of a scandal over a CD purportedly showing him in a compromising position has exposed the hollownes of the claims of Sangh Parivar on morality and culture.

"I do not know what is there in the CD. But let me say that RSS ideology has been of cultural policing and Joshi was its representative in the BJP to teach it. Their claims of moral and cultural policing have been exposed again and again," All India Congress Committee general secretary Ambika Soni told reporters.

Speaking to newsmen after unfurling the party flag at the AICC headquarters, she said all the claims of the RSS on cultural teaching were hollow and have been exposed once again.

Talking about India's unity in diversity of its culture, she rejected the RSS ideology on cultural unity (oneness), saying it won't be successful in the country. "We are opposed to their slogan of cultural unity", she said.

The chairperson of the AICC's media department said that it would be better for the Sangh Parivar and its leadership to reform their own house first.
