Congress president Sonia Gandhi turned 60 on Friday. She has decided not to celebrate her birthday and, instead, will spend the day visiting earthquake-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sonia went to the state early Friday morning, party sources said. She is scheduled to visit quake-affected Poonch, Baramulla and Kupwara and will spend time with the affected families.
The party has decided not to organise any programmes on the occasion.
Earlier too, Sonia had decided not to celebrate national festivals to express her solidarity with the quake victims.
