Jammu and Kashmir government Wednesday said hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has been cleared to perform annual Haj pilgrimage in 2005.
"Geelani has been cleared by the Central Investigation Department for this year's annual Haj pilgrimage," Divisional Commissioner and chairman of State Haj Committee B B Vyas told PTI in Srinagar, a day after Geelani accused the authorities of denying him permission to perform Haj.
However, a spokesman of Geelani claimed the hardline leader had not received the travel documents or any communication from the administration so far.
"Barring my wife and myself, all those who have applied for permission for this year's pilgrimage from Budgam district were provided travel documents on December 5," Geelani said Tuesday.
