Union Minister Natwar Singh's offer to resign failed to pacify a determined opposition, which stalled proceedings in Parliament on the Volcker issue for the fourth consecutive day Tuesday demanding that he stepped down and mounted pressure on Sonia Gandhi to quit as National Advisory Board chairperson.
After witnessing noisy scenes, both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha were adjourned for the day with the opposition
shouting slogans targeting Sonia and the ruling alliance.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led opposition members stormed the well in Lok Sabha and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi and some senior leaders had a tough time persuading members of the UPA against coming near the well.

Treasury benches sought to counter the opposition campaign by flaunting copies of a Hindi news magazine, which spoke of NDA's involvement in Iraqi oil pay-offs.
Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Left party members also tried to turn the tables on the opposition by raising the issue of the demolition of Babri Masjid, today being its 13th anniversary.
They vociferously demanded BJP president Lal Kishenchand Advani's arrest for his alleged involvement in the Babri Masjid demolition case and accused leader of the opposition of now attempting to destroy parliamentary democracy in the country.
