A group of heavily armed militants abducted four persons, including three village defence committee members in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Saturday.

Eight ultras in combat fatigues kidnapped Mohammad Tufel, Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Fareed, all VDC members and Mohammad Jameel from Dhewan-Samote area of the district Friday night, they said.

The militants took away their weapons and set fire to the house of Tufel, who is a deputy headman in the area. Security forces and police have launched a hunt for the militants, they added.
