Even before the contoversial sanyasin Uma Bharti, who has been suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party, could file her reply to the show cause notice, the party headquarters is agog with rumours that the doors of the party are going to be shut to Bharti for ever.
The deadline for her reply expires on December 3 at 12 noon.
Both BJP leaders and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, who had pleaded that Bharti be taken back when she was suspended earlier, are hand in glove to block the re-entry of the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister.
Arun Jaitley, BJP general secretary in charge of Madhya Pradesh, has been in touch with RSS leaders, both in person and over the phone, to scuttle any move that Bharti may make to contact the Sangh leadership and plead with them to intercede on her behalf.
Soon after the BJP announced on Wednesday that she has been suspended from the primary membership of the party and had been given three days to explain her conduct, Jaitley called up Ram Madhav, RSS spokesperson, to check if any of the Sangh leaders had spoken to Uma Bharti.
Ram Madhav in his interaction with the media had clarified that the BJP's decision to suspend Uma Bharti was an internal matter and the Sangh had nothing to do with it. "Discipline is a must," he added.
According to party sources, both the BJP and the RSS leaders were weary of the unpredictable and uncalled-for comments by Bharti, who had made it a habit to first call them names and then tender apologies.
If she called Jaitley and Pramod Mahajan runaway bulls, she levelled charges against Suresh Soni and Sanjay Joshi for gross intereference in Madhya Pradesh and trying to block her installation as the chief minister of the state.
"Once we receive her reply, the senior leadership will decide on the future course of action against her. There is no need for another meeting of the Parliamentary board," Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, one of the vice-presidents who signed the suspension letter on behalf of the party, told rediff.com.
