Minor explosions occurred in the office buildings of the Janata Dal Secular and Congress parties in Bangalore on Friday evening, police said on Saturday.
The explosions took place almost simultaneously, top police officials said. Nobody was injured in both the incidents, they said, adding that the explosions appeared to be just an attempt to "play mischief and create a scare".
A window pane in a toilet in the JD-S office was damaged in the blast. However, no damage occurred in the Congress complex as the explosive was placed just outside the cellar of the building, officials said.
"It is an act of mischief to create a scare," M C Narayana Gowda, joint commissioner (crime), said. The explosion occurred on Friday evening but was reported to police on Saturday, he said and added that only the forensic experts would be able to determine the nature of explosives.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) G B Chebbi said the explosion was of 'small intensity.'
The bomb disposal squad conducted a thorough check of the Congress building on Friday morning.
Security has been tightened at the offices of both the JD(S) and the Congress, the ruling coalition partners.
Bangalore Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh visited the Congress office on Friday morning.
