Former Chief Minister of Delhi and former Governor of Rajasthan Madan Lal Khurana has been suspended from the Bhartiya Janata Party with immediate effect for his 'anti-party' activities.
Addressing a news conference in New Delhi, Mrs Sushma Swaraj, spokesperson of the party said party president L K Advani had suspended Khurana after the office bearers of the party recommended action against the former strongman of Delhi.
"The party had taken note of the 2 letters addressed by Khuranaji to the party president and we felt that these amounted to gross indiscipline and we recommended that action should be taken against him.
The party president has suspended him from the party with immediate effect and a show cause notice is being sent to him. He will have 15 days to reply to the charges," she said.
An aide of Khurana told rediff.com that the letter had not arrived and he would hold a press conference to put forward his point of view.

In his first letter, Khurana had suggested that Advani should apologise for the Gujarat riots just as prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh had done in the case of 1984 riots.
In both the letters, he had suggested that Narendra Modi should be removed as the chief minister of Gujarat.
The second letter was written to concide with Advani's visit to Gujarat more with a view to embrass him, party leaders felt and hence they recommended strong action against Khurana.
Khurana had been allocated the work of looking after Delhi, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir on behalf of the party.
"This work will now be given to someone else," Mrs Swaraj said in response to a question.
