Trouble appears to be brewing for Union Minister Jagdish Tytler after the Nanavati Commission probing the 1984 anti-Sikh riots recommended action against him.
This became clear as Congress, concerned over the snowballing demand for action against him, on Monday gave ample indications of taking some corrective measures saying "we are a sensitive political party and assessment of the situation is a continuous process".
With the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance disrupting Parliament and the Left also expressing its in a strong manner, Congress spokesman Anand Sharma did not rule out the possibility of Home Minister Shivraj Patil making amendments to the Action Taken Report when a discussion takes place in Parliament. He was replying to a question in this regard.
Sharma wanted a threadbare discussion in Parliament on the issue and was prepared to face the demands, objections and criticism of the opposition. "After the debate, there could be appropriate and logical clarifications even to the ATR," he said.
On the Tytler issue, he maintained that probability is not actionable under criminal law.
