After the National Democratic Alliance, the Communist Party of India, a United Progressive Alliance ally on Friday not only criticised Bihar Governor Buta Singh for working in an arbitrary manner, but also demanded his recall.

The CPI announced that it has decided to hold demonstrations and dharnas at all district headquarters on August 8 in support of their demand to recall Governor Buta Singh. The party also demanded  to remove Singh's advisor Arun Pathak and cancellation of transfers of 17 Indian Police Service officers.

The party  resolution passed by the state executive committee meeting in Patna said Singh is working in an arbitrary manner which has been revealed by Chief Secretary G S Kang going on protest leave. It also said Singh should be recalled in the interest of the state.

State party secretary Badri Lal Narayan  said that the crime graph is shooting in the state under President's rule and instead of checking the slide, the governor is posting incompetent and tainted officials in the districts.

"The CPI will hold dharnas to protest rise in crime, arbitrary transfer of officials by the governor besides deteriorating drinking water and power situation in the state," he said.

In view of  next assembly polls in Bihar, the state CPI executive took a decision to speed up parleys with Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (Liberation), other Left parties, Lok Janashakti Party and the Samajwadi Party to forge a third front to take on the NDA as well as the Rashtriya Janata Dal-led coalitions.
