Gujarat administration, railways carrying relief work: Modi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who visited the Sabarmati Express crash site at Samaliya in Vadodara district on Thursday morning, said both the state administration and the railway authorities are involved in rescue and relief work.

At least 22 people have been feared killed and over 70 injured, 10 of them grievously, in a collision between the Ahmedabad-bound Sabarmati Express and a stationary goods train at Samaliya, 30 km from Vadodara.

"Soon after getting the news about the train tragedy, I rushed five ministers to the site. While Health Minister I J Jadeja is leading a team in Vadodara, Ashokbhai Bhatt, Kaushik Bhai Patel, Prabhat Singh Chauhan and others are at the site assisting victims and officials," he told reporters after visiting the spot.

Two special outpatient departments have been opened at Jarod and Halod to provide medical assistance to the injured, the chief minister said.

He said special buses have been arranged for onward journey of the survivors.
