Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Sunday handed over to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf the latter's birth certificate and a painting of the haveli in old Delhi where the Pakistani leader spent his early childhood.

Musharraf was also gifted the birth certificates of his elder brother and sister.

A touched Musharraf appreciated the gesture and presented to Dr Singh an engraving enclosed in a wooden box.

Musharraf and his siblings were born at Lala Girdharilal Maternity Hospital located in Kamala Market in Delhi.

The New Delhi Municipal Council had scoured its records and found three entries, of which two were of male children born on August 11, 1942 and July 22, 1945. They were identified as 'sons of Musharraf'.

The third entry was for a girl child born on July 19, 1941, identified as 'daughter of Musharraf, son of Shaiffudin.'

However, the official website of the Pakistan president gives his date of birth as August 11, 1943. The NDMC could not find any entry for that date.
