The Communist Party of India on Sunday said fresh elections are the only solution to the Bihar impasse.

The party also charged Lok Janshakti Party chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan with weakening the United Progressive Alliance.

"The Congress and LJP should have been more sober in their assessment," CPI National Secretary D Raja said in an interview published in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's mouthpiece Organiser.

Showering praises on Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, he said, "At least he has been consistent in his fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party."

Raja also accused the Congress and the BJP of playing a 'dirty role' with regard to the Patent Act.

"The Bill that came before Parliament was circulated during BJP's term. So the BJP and the Congress are responsible for this Bill. We don't agree with the definition of Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights. We will oppose the multinationals if they try to push up prices," the CPI leader said.

Asked what was the scope now since the Bill has been passed, he said, "We will demand that there is a mechanism to monitor the implementation process. We will be vigilant. This is only the third amendment. There could be a fourth."
