At least 24 people were killed and 42 others injured when a bus collided head-on with a truck on Thursday on a freeway in east China's Anhui province, police said.
The incident occurred around 0230 IST on the Hefei-Xuzhou Freeway, which links Anhui province with Jiangsu province.
A truck registered in Jiangsu drove in the wrong direction and collided with a shuttle bus full of passengers.
All the injured were sent to hospitals for treatment, Xinhua news agency reported.
Over 50,000 people died and over 200,000 were injured in over 250,000 road accidents in China during the first half of this year, the government said recently.
