The All India Ulema Council has decided not to support any particular political party blindly, but instead guide Muslim voters to elect only contestants, from their respective constituencies, on the basis of their past performance.
"Muslims are no more a votebank of any political party and we have decided in the meeting held here last week that we will support only the deserving candidates and not any single political party," AIUC said in a release in Mumbai on Monday.
AIUC held a meeting to ponder over the ensuing Maharashtra assembly elections.
"It has been observed that blindly supporting any single political party is harmful for people as the previous records and experiences prove," the council said.

propaganda', it said.
The Muslim populace has calmly elected those who can solve their basic problems and their wisdom and tactical voting has proved the political pundits completely wrong, the Ulemas claimed.
Ulema council has decided to support candidates of various assembly constituencies after analysing the situation and consulting the responsible citizens of those constituencies.
"We appeal to the people to recognise the vote power and its full and collective utilisation after consulting the wise. Otherwise, useless candidates will reach the assembly," the council added.
