Allan Johan Water, an accused in a 2001 child sexual abuse case who was extradited from the United States on Monday, was on Tuesday remanded to police custody till September 14.
Water was brought to India and placed under arrest by the Colaba police. Tuesday afternoon, he was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate V P Taware, who accepted the prosecution's plea to grant police custody of the accused for further interrogation.
While placing Water in police custody, the judge allowed him home food, besides medical help and legal assistance as and when required. The judge also directed the Colaba police to ensure that the Supreme Court's directives pertaining to those extradited for crimes in India be adhered to.
