The government has decided to hand over to the Central Bureau of Investigation the enquiry into the Tehelka case.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ] on Wednesday, sources said.
The notification is being prepared, the sources said.
Home Minister Shivraj Patil [ Images ] attended the meeting, among others.
Law Minister H R Bhardwaj had a fortnight ago announced the Centre's decision to wind up the Justice S N Phukan Commission, which was probing the Tehelka case, and hand over the probe to an independent agency.
