Six Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorists, including its self-styled group commander Abdul Rehman, and three army personnel were killed in two encounters in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, according to an official spokesman.
Following a tip-off, army and paramilitary troops launched a joint operation in Rajwad forest in Kupwara district, he said.
In the ensuing gun battle four terrorists -- Abdul Rehman, Abu Marsad, Muslim Jehangir and Qasim -- and an army jawan were killed, he said.
Arms and ammunition, including four Kalashnikov rifles, were found at the encounter site, the spokesman said.
In another encounter at Malipora-Qazigund in Anantnag district, two terrorists and two army jawans were killed.
