PM doles out Rs 2,777 crore to Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Sunday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had agreed to sanction an economic package of Rs 2,777.68 crore for various projects in the state.

In a statement issued after the PM's departure from Imphal, the he said the state government expressed its sincere gratitude to the PM for agreeing to sanction the amount.

He said the projects included the Jiribam-Tupul railway line (Rs 727 crore), construction of a new state capital complex (Rs 31 crores), and the Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Project (Rs 659.36 crore).

The CM said that the Centre would also consider financial assistance for a flood control project based on the report of the task force constituted for Assam and the neighbouring states.
