The Madras high court will pronounce on Monday its verdict on a petition challenging the remand of Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswathi to three days' police custody.
Justice A K Rajan reserved his orders on Saturday on the petition filed by the seer, after hearing arguments of pontiff's counsel I Subramaniam and senior advocate K T S Tulsi, who appeared on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Police.
The remand was ordered by the Kanchipuram judicial magistrate on Friday.
In a separate ruling, the Madras HC also dismissed the bail application filed by the Kanchi seer. Giving his order on the bail application on Saturday evening, Justice R Balasubramaniam said, "I am dismissing the bail application at this stage."
