Abductors on Wednesday released a doctor they had seized from Samastipur district in Bihar last month, Chief Secretary K A H Subramanian said.

Dr Nagendra Prasad walked into Maheshkhut police station at Khagaria district in the afternoon unharmed, he said.
The details of the circumstances leading to his release were not immediately available.

The Indian Medical Association has been holding an indefinite stir in the state, with one of its demands being Dr Prasad's safe release. The stir has affected health services in the state.

Dr Prasad, a surgeon posted at Jandaha in Vaishali district, was abducted on October 28 from near Shahpur Patori in Samastipur district when he was on his way to his clinic.
