The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is "becoming normal" and his visit was intended at improving it, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil said at the conclusion of his three-day visit to the state on Monday.
"One visit cannot solve all the problems...but can help in improving the situation," the minister, who was in Leh on the last leg of his maiden tour of the state, told reporters.
"I do not attach any great importance as such...But I can say the steps are in the right direction," Patil said when asked how important his visit had been towards improving the situation.
Patil met delegations from the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, District Congress Committee and social and Buddhist organisations. The delegations demanded a Union territory status and a special economic package for the region.
