Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has accused Osama bin Laden's top deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri of taunting him and pledged to continue the offensive against al Qaeda in the provinces bordering Afghanistan.
""Now that he is taunting me, well, all that I would like to say, I want to eliminate all of them," he told ABC's This Week Sunday.
"Every Muslim in Pakistan must do his or her best in getting rid of this government, which cooperates with the enemies," Zawahiri had said in an audiotape aired by the Al Jazeera network last week.
Blaming the al Qaida for the two assassination attempts on him in December last year, Musharraf said, "I'm very sure that we'll eliminate this al Qaeda from our region."
Asked by ABC whether he was sure he would get Zawahiri and bin Laden before they got him, he said : "I can't be 100 per cent sure. I mean, I'm quite loose at my security, but I believe in destiny. ... "
