One person was killed and over 100 were injured when seven bogies of a passenger train derailed in Chhattisgarh's Korea district late on Friday night, senior railway officials said.
"The accident occurred near Darritola station, about 400 km from Raipur, when the Bishrampur-Bilaspur passenger train jumped rails at around 2300 IST," Korea Collector Durgesh Mishra told PTI.
Of the injured, 24 persons are being treated at the South Eastern Coalfield Ltd Hospital at Manendragarh in the district.
Superintendent of Police, Korea, P H S Rathor, to a question on the possible cause of the derailment, said: "Considering the presence of naxals in neighbouring Sarguja district, we cannot rule out sabotage, though Korea is not
naxal-infested."
Mishra, who monitored the relief and rescue operations at the site, said one bogie of the passenger train fell into a rivulet.
The South East Central Railway has rushed a relief train to the spot from Bilaspur.
