Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Thursday attributed the lack of enthusiasm among party workers as one of the reasons for the Bharatiya Janata Party's debacle in the last general election.

He said there was very little coordination between local leaders and the party's central election machinery and the campaign itself based heavily on television, the Internet and mobile phones did not click with the masses.
Addressing the concluding session of the party's three-day national executive meeting in Mumbai, he said the organisation will take lessons from the defeat and plan for the future.
