The Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday morning received a parcel containing a country-made gun and live cartridges.

The package was sent by a certain Mahesh Sav of Mujaheedpur in Bihar. The matter is now under investigation.

Confirming the receipt of the parcel, S M Khan, press secretary to the President, said the parcel came by normal post and its contents were detected during X-Ray scanning.

"All the mail received by the President is screened and during the screening of this particluar parcel it was found that the packet contained some kind of a country-made weapon and live cartridges," Khan said.

A bomb disposal squad was summoned to check the parcel for explosives.
