Vasundhara Devi, actor Balakrishna's wife, surrendered before the fifth metropolitan magistrate in Hyderabad on Friday afternoon in connection with the shooting incident at the actor's house on June 3. She was given on bail.

She surrendered at around 1230 IST in connection with the case filed by the Hyderabad city police for allegedly tampering with the evidence in the shootout incident involving her husband.

Balakrishna had alleged fired at and critically injured two producers, Bellamkonda Suresh and Satyanarayana Chowdary.

The case against Vasundhara was registered at the Jubilee Hills police station under section 201 of the Indian Penal Code, based on witness accounts that she had ordered the car driver and other household servants to "wipe out" the evidence.

Vasundhara also faces charges under the Indian Arms Act for "unsafe keeping" and "misuse" of her licensed revolver.

Balakrishna allegedly used her revolver and fired six shots. The actor also owns a revolver.

The police has seized both the revolvers and initiated action for revocation of the licences.

Car driver S Kanakaiah (32), who was arrested on Wednesday on charge of destroying evidence, told the police that Vasundhara had asked the maidservants to clean the house of bloodstains. Kanakaiah was ordered to throw away the bloodstained clothes of the actor and bed sheets used by him after the incident.

The police recovered a pair of blue jogging pants, a striped shirt, vest, napkin and a bed sheet, all containing blood marks, from an isolated place near Kondapur at the instance of Kanakaiah.

Servant V Shiva Reddy (20) had assisted Kanakaiah in putting the clothes into the boot of the car.

Two other servants -- Kuppuswamy (55) and K Subbalaxmi (46) -- had cleaned up the premises.
