Keeping up his attack on the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that there was no governance but 'only drama' in the state
Asking the people of the state to bring about a change, Rahul Gandhi who is on a week's visit to Amethi, his Lok Sabha constituency, said, "There is no governance in the state. It is only a drama. This situation will not continue for long,"
"It is your (people's) responsibility to change the government," he added. Later in an informal chat with reporters, Gandhi said the law and order situation was 'bad' not only in Amethi but in the entire state.
The murder of a Congress worker in the area and other incidents had 'exposed the deteriorating' law and order situation in the state, he said.
In an apparent indictment of the state government, he said, "Its attitude towards Amethi is well known." He, however, evaded a reply when asked about imposition of President's rule in the state. Gandhi was flooded with complaints about acute power shortage, poor roads and other problems as he mingled with the people at different villages.
He toured Mohanganj, Semraula, Bahadurpur, Fursatganj and Jais and listened to the grievances of the people. Rahul is scheduled to hold a meeting of party workers at Munshiganj guest house where he would be putting up for the night.
