Over 480 voter identity cards issued by the Election Commission of India were found abandoned today in a dustbin in Kasturba Nagar at suburban Tambaram on the outskirts of Chennai.

The police said some members of the public noticed the cards in a dustbin and immediately informed the police.

The cards were then handed over to the Kanchipuram district collector's office.
