Some upper caste members allegedly set ablaze two thatched houses, pulled down a dalit's house and roughed up a woman in a village in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency represented by Congress' Rahul Gandhi.

Gaya Prasad, whose house in Dulapur village of Sultanpur district was pulled down on Sunday evening, has lodged a complaint with the police.

A case was registered in the Mushiganj police station and senior civil and police officials have reached the spot.

A similar incident had taken place last year in Punnpur village of the constituency when Mayawati was the chief minister. At that time, Rahul's sister Priyanka Gandhi had taken up cudgels on behalf of the victim, Ram Bhajan, a dalit, and helped him register a case with the police.
