Applications are invited from unmarried Indian nationals for direct admission to the three-and-a-half month pre-sea deck cadet course beginning on September 1. The last date of submission of the application form is July 26.
Minimum qualification
(a) Pass in (10+2) equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60 per cent
OR
with Physics as individual subject in BSc in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with an average of not less than 55 per cent of marks in the final year
OR
BE/ B Tech degree from IIT or from an AICTE-recognised college.
(b) 50 per cent or more marks in English in the 10th or 12th standard or in the degree / diploma course conducted by the board or any university.
Age limit
Minimum age: 17 and a half years
Maximum age: 20 years for HSc / ISc, 22 years for BSc, 24 years for BE/B Tech on the date of commencement of training. There will be a two-year relaxation on upper age limit for female candidates
Physical fitness
As per the Medical Examination for Seafarers rule in force.
Eye sight
Eye sight without glasses, 6/6 in each eye separately, without colour blindness.
Cost of training
Rs 61,000 approximately.

Applications may be submitted in capital letters duly signed with following particulars:
1) Name in full
2) Address
3) Contact number
4) Date of birth
5) Category (SC / ST)
6) Educational qualification/s
7) Marks obtained with PCM average in HSC / Isc / BSc / BE / B Tech exam; four copies of passport sized photographs, one pasted on the application form; Rs 500 by DD (non-refundable) drawn in favour of the 'T S Chanakya, Navi Mumbai,' payable at Mumbai; two copies each of the certificates and testimonials in support of marks, age, caste etc. Your application should be signed with the following declaration: 'I do hereby declare that if I furnish false, or suppress any material, information my admission or courses completed are liable to be cancelled and action can be taken against me as per laws and rules.'
Selection
Out of 80 seats, nominees of INSA / FOSMA / MASSA member companies will be admitted first. The remaining seats will be filled up on merit basis. The institute will maintain 15 per cent and 7.5 per cent reservation for SC/ ST candidates respectively.
T S Chanakya will not be responsible for arranging mandatory 36 months on-board training for appearing in the II Mate Exam after completion of the course.
