Five hundred students of the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital, marooned in their hostels for eight days now as flood waters rise around them, have sent an SoS to Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi.

Last week, an army chopper airlifted over 50 girls from the college to Patna. But there are 500 more students awaiting evacuation.
"The conditions here are inhuman with water flowing above hand pumps, leaving us with no drinking water. Students are falling prey to many water-borne diseases with three of them in a serious condition. Presence of snakes and scorpions are adding to our woes. We consider you our guardian and hope that you will arrange to airlift or move us to safer places. Please Save Our Souls," the request said.
Heavy rain in the last couple of days has worsened the flood situation in the state. Darbhanga is one of the worst-hit districts.
Over 20 million people have been affected by the floods and 138 lives have been lost so far.
All the major rivers including the Ganga, Gandhak, Kosi and Bagmati are flowing above the danger mark.
