Defying curfew, women activists of social organisations on Thursday stripped during a demonstration before the Assam Rifles office in Manipur capital protesting against the killing of a 30-year-old woman allegedly by security forces.
Rape us, kill us, take our flesh they shouted while attempting to break open the gate of the Assam Rifles range office in Imphal, despite indefinite curfew in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas.
Some of the women reportedly fainted at the gate and were later hospitalised by the police.
The activists belonged to different organizations, including Macha Leima, National Identity Protection Committee, All Manipur United Clubs Organisation- United People's Front.
Earlier, indefinite curfew was imposed in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas in Manipur following widespread protests against the killing of the woman in an alleged encounter by Assam Rifles, official sources said.
Normal life has been paralysed in Manipur since July 12 midnight due to a 48-hr bandh call given by 26 organisations protesting against the alleged killing of the woman.
