Even as forest authorities stepped up efforts to prevent leopard attacks on humans in the periphery of Sanjay Gandhi National Park in north Mumbai, one more wild cat was trapped in a cage in neighbouring Thane district on Saturday morning.

The leopard, a four-year-old female, was trapped on the Borivali-Thane Ghodbunder road, forest officials said. The trap was one of the 35 set by forest authorities in and around the national park.

With the fresh catch, the total number of leopards caught by forest authorities recently has risen to four. Three leopards were caught earlier this week.

All the trapped leopards would be relocated in the forests of eastern Maharashtra, the authorities had said.
