The Border Security Force on Wednesday busted a hideout of the pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen in Pulwama district of south Kashmir and recovered a huge quantity of ammunition and explosives.
Acting on a tip-off, BSF troops raided the hideout at Remu village in the wee hours and recovered 12,000 rounds of AK ammunition, 2.5 kg RDX and three grenades, a BSF spokesman told PTI in Srinagar. The ammunition, a fresh consignment, was hidden inside a newly dug up tunnel.
This is the fourth haul of arms and ammunition within a week.
Security forces had recovered 25kg of RDX, a Chinese-made rocket launcher, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in the Kashmir valley on the eve of Republic Day in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir.
On January 24, security forces recovered several rockets, boosters and rifle grenades from Bemina area of Srinagar.
On January 23, 45kg of explosives were recovered near Bakshi Stadium, the venue of the main Republic Day function in the Kashmir valley.
